Open Source Ecology - Germany

National project

Description

OSEG is a non-profit association, whose goal is the development and dissemination of sustainable open source hardware projects.

The purpose of a technology is to serve human needs. Technologies that damage our livelihood do not meet this basic requirement. The transition to more sustainable technological, cultural and economic practices is therefore a central challenge.

Open Source Ecology - Germany makes the entire life cycle of each technology freely accessible and openly available. This forms the basis for independence and cooperation. Everyone can use this information, adapt it to their needs and distribute it.

The reproducibility and thus the understanding of how a technology works makes it accessible and verifiable for everyone. This is the only way to ensure that a technology only does what it is supposed to.

In addition to pure reproducibility, we create other materials, such as instructions, images or videos, which should also enable non-professionals to replicate products. From research and design to parts lists, manufacturing (CAD data, technical drawings, exploded views, text, images, videos, animations, simulations), use, maintenance, repair, reuse and recycling, all aspects of technology development are openly documented.

Open source hardware are thus products and technologies that are developed in a free and open process and the results of which are published under free licenses. They are available to all interested parties free of charge and without restrictions and can be further developed by other people or organizations.
