Description
The Palazzo Durante of Letojanni is a historic residence located in the main square of Letojanni, "Piazza Durante" close to the sea, a stone's throw from Taormina and Giardini Naxos, with excellent connections with the rest of the island. It is a real castle on the sea, considered one of the most beautiful structures of the village, built in 1902 by specialists from Messina, with material and local workers. It has architectural features reminiscent of the medieval Gothic style, such as the mullioned window of the central tower and the battlements that surround most of the perimeter walls.
The property has 37 rooms, including 6 singles, some triple rooms and a quadruple room.
Each room is equipped with private bathroom, TV, mini fridge, air conditioning, free WI FI and hairdryer.
We have a conference room for about 70 people, 2 other smaller meeting rooms, a beautiful panoramic terrace on the second floor overlooking both Piazza Durante and the sea, with the program to open here, for next summer, a Roof Garden, where you can taste the most imaginative aperitifs and listen to beautiful live music.
In the palace there is also a church, where it is possible to say mass, a service much requested by family or religious groups who often gather here for a pleasant holiday in peace.
The palace was built at the end of '800 by prof. Francesco Durante, world-famous surgeon and senator of the kingdom of Italy with Francesco Crispi, who retired here to spend the last years of his life in the country that gave him birth.
After his death the building was sold to the "Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus" who initially established an orphanage, and at the beginning of 2000 opened the holiday home.
The property has been run for three years by a family who has been spending their holidays here since 2001.
In the rooms have been recently changed all the beds and mattresses and introduced a new furniture in several rooms that required it
The hotel also has a restaurant, "Locanda Durante", right on the square and is also open to the public
