Quiet, super-insulated semidetached country house with private well-shaded garden for cool summer stays and cosy winter sojourns.

To minimise our carbon footprint there is underfloor solar heating in bedrooms and bathroom, and a microinverter PV system to supplement electricity consumption and power air conditioning in summer, in addition the hot water for kitchen and bathroom is solar heated.

The grey water from shower and wash basins is used to water plants at the back of the house.

For self caterers, there is a fully equipped kitchen, and for chilling there is a large living room with arched windows that let the sun in over winter months and look out onto garden.



Access is via narrow lane with parking 30 metres away at entrance to lane, The house in only a 2 minute walk from the main village square with bar and restaurant.

The village of Rodalquilar is at the heart of the Parque Natural Cabo de Gata, and features a rotating alfresco exposition of paintings by local artists on the walls of the houses. We're located 3 kms from the unspoilt beach of El Playazo. There are numerous tracks for walking, hiking, trail running and MTBing and many secluded coves accessible only on foot.

The sea is recharged with Atlantic current that upwells when meeting seamounts that originated as volcanoes and the local beaches boast clean and clear water perfect for swimming and snorkelling. There are many water sport options too, like kayaking, wind and kite surfing, and scuba diving in the park.

The level of endism in the area is very high, due to the fact this was only spot in Spain not covered by glaciers in last ice age (so it is home to original vegetation cut off from cousins in Africa), to the abundance of micro-climates and to the special geology and morphology dominated by vulcanism (hence the abandoned gold mines).
