Palazzo Ca' Bernardi in San Polo

  • Apartment
  • 4 guests
  • 3 bedroom
  • Private Bathroom

Description

This comfortable, ancient apartment of 130 square meters, located on the First Noble Floor of Ca 'Bernardi (23 steps in all), very comfortable for 6 people (great for a family or for couples of friends who want to feel independent of each other), a few steps from Rialto, in the picturesque, lively and central area of San Polo, is developed on two levels. The apartment is registered under the number M02704210786.

Children under the age of 7 cannot be accommodated.

It consists of a large noble room with ceilings over 4 meters high, two bedrooms (one double with a four-poster bed of cm. 160x200 and one with two beds that on request can be joined) and a sitting room that can become an additional bedroom (sofa bed with mattress cm. 140x200), an airy kitchen where you can have lunch on a beautiful oak table in Baroque style, a second small kitchen for snacks, aperitifs and small breakfasts on the second level, two bathrooms with shower and tiles by Piero Fornasetti.

From the windows you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Rio dei Meloni, at the bottom of which is also a gondola station (30 seconds from home), and - towards the interior of the building - of the delightful courtyard of the Palace.

Very close to the vaporetto line 1 (San Silvestro stop), the Five Continents Art Apartment is located in an ideal area to reach any part of the city: Rialto with its magnificent market is a 3-minute walk away, San Marco and the St Mark's area are 18 minutes away, Ca' D'Oro as many, the beautiful area of Santa Maria Formosa 15 minutes away, the Frari area and the Scuola di San Rocco are no more than 10 minutes away. With line 1 you can reach all the important points of the city and the Biennale in a short time. On foot you can also reach the Santa Lucia station in 18 minutes (passing through Campo San Polo).

30 seconds from home is the excellent Coop supermarket, a few minutes away the fantastic Rialto market, where you can buy every possible delicacy. In the very close surroundings endless shops, restaurants and pastry shops (the most famous, practically a step away from home, is Rizzardini, in campiello dei Meloni). A very personal but well-tested list of restaurants in the surrounding area, left for guests inside the apartment, will give a first idea of the immense gastronomic possibilities of Venice.

The Five Continents Art Apartment has been completely renovated and furnished during the winter and spring of 2019. All its systems (hydraulic, electrical, heat pumps, gas cooking) are certified according to current regulations.

This apartment has been designed to accommodate cultured and demanding visitors, lovers of art and of every culture, curious and attentive to the detail that makes the difference to better appreciate the most beautiful city in the world and feel immersed in the relaxation of a private Venetian house even during rest after long walks of explorations and discoveries.

The nature of the Owners is collectible: the apartment reflects the love for art and for the refined and precious detail. We hope you will appreciate this research and dedication that is reflected not only in our work but also in our free time.

The furnishings are antique and contemporary: designer lamps (Artemide, Leucos, Nemo, Vistosi, Barovier) are accompanied by seventeenth-century furniture and Asian and African textiles. But we also do not forget the playful aspect: in the main room there is a gaming table with checkers, chess and backgammon of Damask origin available to guests. A small library about Venice and art books in different languages, gladdens moments of relaxation.

On the walls works of modern and contemporary art, Japanese Ukiyo-e prints, engravings by Cesare Vecellio and the Italian seventeenth century: all are part of the family collection. The carpets are Chinese, Berber and Anatolian. Decorative pillows are produced from ikat fabrics and come from Uzbekistan, as well as some specimens of suzani that furnish the walls or serve as a curtain.

Two televisions complete the comfort in the two living rooms on the first and second floor, while the private internet line is guaranteed and enhanced by the fiber optic connection.

The apartment is equipped with every type of appliance: dishwasher, oven, microwave, refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board, two televisions, shoe cleaning machine, safety hairdryer in both bathrooms, toaster, Italian and "American" coffee machine, two kettles for water, etc.

Heating and air conditioning are guaranteed by a latest generation heat pump system and split places in each room.

Emergency lights do not allow accidents in the event of a power outage.

The bedding is linen: sheets and bedspreads both winter and summer are in elegant stonewashed linen.

Three towels, a pair of slippers and a bathrobe are available for each guest. We also provide shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, liquid soap, toilet paper, home paper and materials for cleaning and for the kitchen in general. A small first aid kit offers the minimum facilities for minor inconveniences.

Umbrellas, waterproof ponchos and high water boots are also available for each guest. Bad weather will not prevent you from proceeding safely in visiting the City! And not even the high water will stop you: for each guest there is a pair of special boots to walk with water up to the knee.

Guests are required to respect the condominium context and the neighborhood.

We trust that spending happy days in this beautiful house will make you understand how our neighbors care about privacy and silence just like anyone else.

The definition "Cà Bernardi" means "house of Bernardi", a wealthy Venetian family from Giudecca, who dealt with the sale of colors and pigments.

The main building was built in the mid-fifteenth century: it has a "T" architectural layout, with a large hall placed horizontally in axis and three long longitudinal rooms. The court, at one time, was open until it reached the canal and the area below the main building (inside the porch) was used as a stable for the family's livestock.

The size of the building and the size of the well allow us to deduce a particular wealth of the Bernardi family.

Towards the end of the seventeenth century a second wing was built with the closure of the part of the court towards the canal and the Bernardi family, who no longer had direct heirs in line of succession, lost ownership of the palace. On the wall of the main wall are still visible today the remains of a fresco that, probably, decorated the entire façade. The fresco that occupies the entrance wall to the Five Continents Art Apartment seems to depict San Rocco, a beloved saint in Venice, an example of love for his neighbor and human solidarity, protector against the terrible scourge of the plague and epidemics in general. Here it would seem to be depicted (from behind?) without clothes and flanked by the trusty little dog. A nice viaticum and a good omen for your Venetian home!

Welcome

I have been dealing with exhibitions for years and I write about modern and contemporary art. I graduated in Greek numismatics but after graduation I immediately started producing exhibitions of ancient art and - after some time - of modern art in public and private spaces. Today I mainly write for some magazines in the sector. I am also an expert in antiques and modern and contemporary art at the Chamber of Commerce of Venice. The passion is family, I am very lucky in this. I have traveled a lot in Europe and the world and I have learned a lot from travel. Today I am calmer: a husband and a son have given me other happiness, but the journey is for me a life experience. I like to move by car along the less traveled roads, I like to read up on the places I have to visit, but I often let myself be taken by the occasion. Fundamental to get to know a people and a new lifestyle is the knowledge of the local cuisine to which I also submit with risk, but always with satisfaction. I love music: I played classical and funky music and sang in the past in different Venetian and Milanese groups. It is a passion that I have never been able to forget and to which I believe I will soon lose
