Description

3 miles in each direction to the North and South coasts, a self-contained, 2 storey annexe at the bottom of the garden. A former Library set in an AONB with easy access to open countryside and many beautiful beaches. Perfect for walking, cycling, beaches, surfing, art and history lovers. A wealth of places around the peninsula to explore. The Library is a fully equipped, 2 bedroomed tranquil space with views over the garden and open fields with a small, private courtyard with table and chairs.

The space

The Library is a light, spacious annexe away from the house at the bottom of our garden. It is beautifully furnished with a comfortable, eclectic feel. Downstairs has slate and terracotta flooring throughout with various rugs, comfy leather sofas and a woodburner for cosy cooler evenings and perfect for winter stays. Free logs provided all year round. There's a separate loo, a bathroom with large walk-in shower/wetroom (no bath) There is a bijou, but well equipped kitchen with halogen hob, combi microwave, dishwasher and fridge.(no conventional oven) From the kitchen is a door to a small courtyard with outside table and chairs.

Upstairs is an open galleried space with a day bed at one end and 2 bedrooms with seagrass flooring throughout. The bedrooms are simple, calm and uncluttered, one has a double bed, the other 2 singles. These can easily be put together to make a kingsize bed if needed. The beds have feather duvets and pillows, we do have synthetic ones if required. Just let us know in advance.

There is a "sheila maid" which is great for drying towels.

We will provide hammam towels for your use in the house but please bring your own beach towels.

You are free to enjoy the garden, shared with ourselves. We have a summerhouse, hammock and slack line. Please note there is a small pond so keep an eye on little ones!

To help you fully escape we do not provide a television.

There is very little light pollution so on a clear night the sky is magical, bright with stars and the milky way.

Guest access

The Library will be your self contained home for your stay. It is fully self-catering so breakfast is not included.

Other things to note

During school holidays we only accept weekly bookings from Saturday.

Breakfast is not included.

There is no oven but there is a combination microwave and a hob.

We encourage our guests to recycle and be as green as possible. We have a sewage treatment plant so discourage anything other than pee, pooh and paper down the loos. No oil or fat down the sinks please and we try not to use too many strong cleaning products as these can have an adverse effect on the ecosystem within the treatment plant.

The water here is great to drink, please don’t buy bottled water, bring your own water bottles to fill up each day.

We have a friendly young dog called Siddy Bennett that lives with us in the main house and a cat called Violet

FREE LOGS all year round for the woodburne

Hi we're Tamara and Andrew. We live in this beautiful part of Cornwall near Penzance, with our gorgeous German Wire-haired Pointer called Siddy Bennett and cat called Violet. We love walking the dog across the beautiful landscape from our doorstep. We moved here from Bristol 7 years ago. After 25 years of city living we were ready for a complete life change to live by the sea in our favourite part of the country. An opportunity to "live on holiday" and now have all the time in the world (outside work of course!) to visit our wonderful surroundings. Andrew likes to surf. Although we live in a little hamlet there is a wonderful sense of community here.
We are very sociable and easy-going and love to meet new people. Tamara loves food, cooking and eating, independent cinema, art. Her latest passion is dressmaking. Music is important to us too, nothing beats live music of all genres. Tamara is a singer too having sung in bands all her life.
Tamara works as a radiographer and Andrew works from home as a software engineer so there's usually someone around.
We are lucky to live in the most beautiful house which we love to share with others. We have 4 grown up children who have flown the nest and return as often as possible.
This is an informal, laid back setting and we look forward to welcoming you into our home
